If you have browsed my site or Instagram page at all, you've probably gathered that I'm a lover of neutrals. Sometimes to a fault (if you ask my neon and tie-dye loving pre-teen). But as your Franklin, TN newborn photographer, I love to assist my clients with styling their outfits so that they look and feel magazine worthy in their photos. As light and neutral clothing tends to photograph best with the film tones I use in editing, I generally steer my clients towards this color palette. Neutral, however, doesn't mean everyone has to dress in all white. Some white is great! Especially on dads - because lets be real, we need at least one easy outfit to plan and white shirt + khakis just doesn't get any easier. And it looks fabulous - just choose a high quality material like linen or even a knit sweater.

I pulled together the below styling board to show you how you can style your in-home newborn session in a neutral palette, without everyone wearing white. For your newborn, I do bring a white muslin swaddle. I love the simplicity and timelessness of keeping baby in a swaddle - rather than frilly outfits. This warm, neutral style would also be beautiful for an outdoor family session.
